TOPPRO Group announces setting up of golf glove factory

Joint venture company setup with veteran Korean golf glove manufacturer

Singapore, 5 March 1997: Local golf equipment and accessories distribution group TOPPRO is expanding into manufacturing with the setting up of a golf glove factory in Malaysia, in partnership with its long-time glove supplier, Lee Sports Co. Ltd.

A new joint-venture company, Parworld Sporting Industries Sdn Bhd (PWSI) will operate the factory in Ipoh.

"We are fortunate to team up with Lee Sports as it is one of the most established golf glove manufacturers in South Korea," said Mr Raymond Chow, Managing Director of TOPPRO International Pte Ltd.

The factory will produce high quality "All-Weather" synthetic leather golf gloves for both the domestic and export markets. Mr Chow said that in the initial phase, factory production would be for the TOPPRO group’s own golf equipment and accessories label, TOPPRO as well as for Lee Sports.

Subsequently, the factory’s output would be for the European, Far East Asian, Japan and Australian markets. PWSI will market the factory’s services through an international marketing team as well as through the company’s newly-launched Internet web site at http://www.toppro.com

With the setting up of its own golf glove factory, Mr Chow said that the group would have more flexibility in the design and manufacture of gloves, adding that next year, the TOPPRO group hopes to introduce at least two new models of TOPPRO all-weather golf gloves.
